37 Best Willow Smith Songs of All Time

Top 10 Willow Smith Songs

Older cats like myself were very excited when the offsprings of Jada Pinkett and Will Smith, Willow and Jaden Smith, embarked on musical careers. I remember thinking if they are as half as good as their dad, they will probably be worth listening to. And, I was right. Jaden has had a decent career as a mumble rapper, but it’s Willow that’s impressed the most over the recent years.

The top 10 Willow Smith songs are very good, considering her first album was only released in 2015, although she had been making music before that. She is currently five albums deep with no signs of slowing down. Willow is not just known as a singer-songwriter but also as an actress and a dancer. It seems that the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

She has had numerous tracks in the upper echelons of the US Hot 100 Billboard charts and has several awards to her name in her short career. Her musical style is an amalgamation of R&B, Pop, Alternative R&B, and even Rock. Let’s take a look at some of Willow Smith’s most famous songs.

Top 10 Willow Smith Songs

37 Best Willow Smith Songs of All Time

1 I Am Me

“I Am Me” is one of the earliest songs she made back in 2012. It’s an inspirational piece of music, especially considering she was only 12 years old at the time. The empowering message is quite staggering for someone so young. It’s essentially about being yourself and knowing who you are. I don’t know anyone who properly understood themselves at 12 or 21, to tell you the truth, but maybe I am being cynical.

This is a powerful song that attracted lots of fans right from the start. And, even in its strength, it shows the vulnerability that most human beings of any age can relate to. Making a song like this right off the bat sets the standard from the get-go. I had to put this in the prime spot because it’s simply one of the best Willow Smith songs.

2 emo girl by Machine Gun Kelly (feat. Willow Smith)

“emo girl” by Machine Gun Kelly is a very interesting collaboration. Let’s be completely honest here, Willow outshines MGK on this track, and it’s not even close. When he sang the first verse, I remember thinking, “meh.” But, as soon as Willow’s vocals kick in, it was a different ball game entirely. She rocks like a meteorite on this track, and it’s very pleasant to see.

The song is featured on the 2022 Machine Gun Kelly album, Mainstream Sellout, which some believe to be one of the best albums of that year. I preferred it when MGK used to rap instead of doing Alternative Rock, but you can’t please everyone. The chemistry between the two is there for all to see. And, in my opinion, it’s the shining light on this already impressive track.

3 Wait a Minute

“Wait a Minute” is a single from her 2017 second studio album, Ardipithecus. It’s one of the more Pop-inspired tracks on this list of the top 10 Willow Smith songs, but I quite like her Pop songs. It’s up-tempo and has a very catchy chorus hook. The bassline bumps along nicely and drives the composition.

The lyrics are about how someone is taking liberties with her love and heart, and you just can’t have that. But, even though the massage is a bit sad, the overall vibes of the instrumental are very uplifting and positive, and fun.

4 Time Machine

When Willow first released her self-named debut studio album in 2015, nobody could believe how sophisticated and mature her music was. It took people by surprise. If someone like Sade sang “Time Machine,” nobody would’ve batted an eyelid. It’s so mature, sensual, and so grown up. At the time, she was only 14 years old, and that’s simply sensational.

This reflective love ballad is way beyond her years, so I’ll leave that one up to you. The vocal quality is fantastic, and the overall vibes of the song are deep and dutiful. The hurt and pain she manages to achieve in her vocals would put some other Popstars twice her age to shame, and that’s a great compliment.

5 Meet Me At Our Spot (with Tyler Cole and The Anxiety)

“Meet Me At Our Spot” is a collaborative song between Willow Smith, Tyler Cole, and The Anxiety. It has more of a live band feel because it was released in 2020 as a live-performance single. Her evolution as an artist is there for all to see on this track. And that’s quite unusual for someone so young making their way through the Pop industry.

It received a nomination at the Billboard Music Awards in the Top Rock Song category and was very well received by fans and critics alike. The lyrics are about meeting someone when you are going through some issues and leaning on them for comfort. We can all relate to topics about love and war.

6 transparentsoul (feat. Travis Barker)

Travis Barker is one of the best artists around. So, when he collaborated with Willow on “transparentsoul,” you knew it was going to be special. And, it was. The lyrics are about betrayal, and the vibes are very Alternative Rock or Emo-sounding. Furthermore, it’s a bit Punk regarding the music and the lyrics.

It was released as a single from Willow’s fourth studio album in 2021, Lately I Feel Everything. The song is up-tempo, raucous, aggressive, and in your face. Don’t act like they are bad things, quite the contrary.

7 9 (feat. SZA)

“9” features fellow R&B singer SZA and is a cool and sensual Neo-Soul track from her 3 EP. It’s a very atmospheric and moody track and is another joint that could well be inspired by Sade. I know that some people won’t like that comparison, but it’s so true. SZA and Willow trade verses on this track, and the main subject matter is failed relationships.

It’s a very complex and emotional track and one that is way ahead of her years. Amazingly, it was released back in 2014 when she was so young. But what did you expect from the child of Will and Jada? She was never going to be “normal,” if we even know what that means.

8 Female Energy Part Two

Willow has become a very experimental artist, and no track was more experimental than 2019’s “Female Energy Part Two.” She collaborated with rapper Tyler Creator and her brother Jaden to produce this track. Anyone familiar with Tyler’s work knows he never stays still and is always experimenting with musical styles.

This is a very minimalist and stripped-down R&B track that is smooth, deep, and unique. Willow and Tyler trade verses that are essentially about empowering women. The message is fantastic, the production is on fire, and there isn’t much more you can ask for than that!

9 Whip My Hair (feat. Nicki Minaj)

“Whip My Hair” was a collaboration with Nicki Minaj back in 2010 when she was super-young. The track was written by Jay-Z, so it’s always nice when your parents have important friends in high places. Regardless of that, the song is pretty good and a great introduction to a young Willow.

The song went on the garner massive commercial success on an international level and made her a worldwide Pop star in a super-quick fashion. It nearly hit the Top 10 on the Hot 100 Billboard Charts in the US, which is no mean feat for a 10-year-old. It even got nominated for a Grammy. As a result, this is one of the most successful Willow Smith songs.

10 Marcelin

When Willow released her second studio album in 2015, one of the most popular tracks from it was “Marcelin.” It’s a very introspective song that talks about relationship issues. And it became one of Willow Smith’s most famous songs because of the auto-tune effects used on her voice.

Furthermore, the effect was controversially used a few times during that album. People love to complain, that’s for sure. So, if you try to watch the official video on YouTube, it currently has some copyright issues that won’t let the audio play. Therefore, your best option is to buy “Marcelin” online, then you don’t have to worry about anything.

Top 37 Willow Smith Songs – Final Thoughts

Willow is still out there working hard and released her last album in 2022, Coping Mechanism. For someone so young to already have five studio albums is pretty much insane. Considering her already vast and deep discography, this list of Willow Smith’s Top 37 songs was difficult to compile.

Yes, she came from famous Hollywood parents, but music like this doesn’t just happen unless you are super-talented and ready to put in the hard work and dedication. By the time she’s finished, she could easily have ten albums or more albums under her belt. So, let’s wait and see what happens in the next chapter of the Willow Smith experience.

Until next time, happy listening.
