Top 55 Best Big Sean Songs of All Time

Best Big Sean Songs of All Time

When Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, more commonly known as the Detroit-born but Californian-based rapper Big Sean first won GQ Magazine’s 2012 “Hottest Rookie” award, it was evident that we had a true rap talent on our hands.

Table of Contents

Those in the know already knew that Big Sean had the potential back in 2010, but the cream always rises to the top.

So, choosing the best Big Sean songs of all time is not an easy feat…

He has collaborated with the likes of Nicki Minaj, Drake, E40, Pharrell Williams, Post Malone, Katy Perry, and Kanye West. And he has numerous platinum albums and singles to boot. It’s like trying to decide on Mike Tyson’s greatest knockouts.

But because I love Big Sean so much, I am going to attempt the impossible. Wish me luck, and please don’t get disgruntled if your favorite Big Sean track is not on the list.

Best Big Sean Songs of All Time

Top 55 Best Big Sean Songs of All Time

1
Feels by Pharrell Williams (feat. Big Sean and Kay Perry)

Sorry, guys. I know you’re probably going to lynch me for this choice. But, we should never underestimate how important “Feels” by Pharrell Williams, produced by Calvin Harris and featuring Big Sean and Katy Perry, was for his crossover appeal.

Sometimes, a track is so big that it propels you into the mainstream…

And although this might not be a popular opinion with Big Sean fans, this is what this track did for him. He didn’t look out of place in collaboration with some of Pop music’s biggest hitters over the past decade or more. And that’s no mean feat.

Big Sean’s verse on “Feels” brought him into the limelight and introduced him to a cacophony of new pop music fans. You just can’t put a price on that level of exposure.

It’s the perfect summer party anthem, and it bumps along in a bouncy fashion. So, if you’ve never heard it before, you must have been living under a rock in Siberia.

2
 What You Doin’

Long-time fans will already know that one of the best Big Sean songs is “What You Doin’” from his 2010 Finally Famous mixtape set. This is a classic track that sounds as good today as it did over a decade ago. It’s that type of thing that still makes him relevant today.

If you are a Big Sean fan and this is not at the top or near the top of your favorite tunes of his, you haven’t been around from the get-go. This is the track that put him on the map back in the day. So, we have to pay homage right here, right now.

3
Wolves (feat. Post Malone)

“Wolves” features Post Malone and is regarded as one of Big Sean’s most successful songs. This tune is relatively modern and was released from the 2020 album Detroit 2. The fact that it features Post Malone was a real treat for fans of modern Hip-Hop and R&B, adding more intensity to the song.

This is one of Big Sean’s most popular collaboration songs with a catchy and bass-heavy feel. If you have never heard of these two rappers before, this is a great place to start. Sure, it’s a lot more mainstream sounding than some of Sean’s previous tracks, but that’s not a bad thing.

4
Dance (A$$) Remix

Talking about Big Sean collaborations, nothing was bigger than his “Dance (A$$) Remix” that featured Nicki Minaj.

Back in the early 2010s, Minaj was probably the most famous Pop star in the world. So, getting her on a collaboration track was massive for Sean. This was an absolute club banger that lit up every dance floor from Toronto to Timbuktu.

This track is Hip-Hop and rap…

But it does have a certain dance music feel to it. EDM was taking America by storm at the time, so it was important to have rap tracks that people could dance to on a night out.

This was a match made in heaven, both musically and aesthetically. As a result, it has to be near the top of this list by proxy, just by its very existence.

5
Blessings (feat. Drake and Kanye West)

Again on the collaboration and cameo tip, we have “Blessings” featuring both Drake and Kanye West. How about that for a threesome? It doesn’t get any bigger than Ye and Drake.

The song was originally released back in 2015 and was instantly a massive hit across the globe. This joint was pumping out of the speaker everywhere, from high school parties to strip clubs.

The fact that Big Sean was on this track with these two rap legends gives me hope for humanity. This is the type of track that you can play today, and it still sounds fresh and hot. How many rap tracks from the 2010s can say that? That was a rhetorical question.

6
I Don’t Fuck with You (feat. E30)

I don’t want you to think all the best Big Sean songs of all time depended on cameo appearances from other famous rappers because that’s not true.

However, “I Don’t Fuck with You,” featuring rapper E40 is easily one of his best tracks and collaborations ever. The track was also produced by Kanye West, and not many people mention that.

The beat was ahead of its time then. And, at some point in the future, time and space might catch up with it. But I’m not holding my breath on that.

This song was originally released back in 2014…

But it could easily be this year, and people would still say it’s ahead of its time. The funky, positive, and futuristic beat with a catchy hook has etched this banger on the consciousness of rap fans from the 2010s and beyond.

7
Bounce Back

A major criticism aimed at modern-day rappers is their lack of lyrical depth and creativity. That’s where Big Sean flips the script and offers a welcome exception to the rule.

“Bounce Back” is all about the wordplay and the creativity of the beat. Fans of the rapper continually come back to this tune when they need their fix. This track is from his 2017 I Decided album and was even nominated for Best Rap Performance at the Grammy Awards.

The fast yet clear flows bounce on the beat in a majestic fashion. Mesmerizing is a good way to describe it. When this joint dropped, it became an instant hit and is still regarded highly today by rap fans and aficionados.

8
I Do It

“I Do It” is another track that helped the rapper to cement himself as a major player in the rap industry. It was released way back in 2011 as part of the Finally Famous mixtape series and is a favorite track of longtime Big Sean fans

The beat, once again, was way ahead of its time and sounds like something from 2018. That’s just how far ahead of the game Big Sean was during those mixtape years.

It’s fair to say that this was a very popular summer tune at the time. You could find it rocking out of clubs and lowriders alike. His music has always appealed to the street as opposed to the Pop charts. And that’s why he is still a widely respected rapper today.

9
Jump Out The Window

“Jump Out The Window” was the jam when it was released in 2017, and still is today in my eyes. The beat is a masterpiece that merges a melodic piano with an electro feel that still sounds better than ever.

If you are a Big Sean fan and don’t feel nostalgic when you hear this joint, I seriously question your devotion to the man. Blending cool rap verse flows with catchy chorus hooks makes this so memorable for me. But please don’t take the title of this track literally; it’s metaphorical, guys.

It was featured on his fourth studio album, I Decided, which many claim to be his best. Although, I am not so sure about that. This track still feels modern today, so he was doing something right at the time, surfing on the cutting edge of Hip-Hop.

10
Beware (feat. Jhene Aiko)

Back in 2013, Big Sean was making big waves across the rap music game with his Hall of Fame album. “Beware” featured the classy female vocalist Jhene Aiko who was already reasonably famous at the time.

This irrepressible duo meshed together like Alex Jones and David Icke without the shape-shifting reptilians. The funky yet throbbing instrumental really helped Sean and Jhene to create something dreamy and addictive.

This is very different in vibes from the majority of his other tracks, but that’s what makes it so special. Sometimes, we get carried away by Sean’s more popular releases, but this one sounded unique, and it still does.

11
Intro

As far as classic Big Sean songs go, nothing is more memorable than “Intro” from his Finally Famous mixtape series back in 2011.

This was one of my best Big Sean songs of all time back in the day and remains in my rotation playlist today. It has a very positive feeling that is uplifting and inspirational. Something that rap fails to conjure up these days.

When you do listen to this joint in 2024…

It shows just how much Big Sean has evolved over the years. And, considering this is over a decade old, it still sounds good, though it is quite dated. This is the sort of offering that got me into Big Sean in the first place. So, it does feel nostalgic and holds a place dear in my heart.

12
No Favors (feat. Eminem)

I thought it would be wrong to make this list without adding “No Favors,” which features the rap god himself, Eminem. The fact that Em blessed the track should give you an indication of what he thinks about Sean.

From Sean’s perspective…

It takes balls to jump on a track with a bonafide verse murderer like Slim Shady. The fact that Em spits insane verses on this track and Big Sean keeps up is a testament to his ability. They rap well together, and it’s something I would like to hear more of in the future. It was also featured on the 2018 I Decided album and is a shining beacon of light on that record.

The rhyme schemes are acrobatic and take this beat to the next level. Not everyone can hold their own with Em, but Big Sean managed this feat on “No Favors.”

13
Lithuania (feat. Travis Scott)

If you get two top rappers and put them on a track together, nothing can possibly go wrong. That’s the formula that made “Lithuania” with Travis Scott so great. I once had a pen pal from Lithuania, but that’s a completely different story that ended in marriage… I mean divorce.

This pumping truck was released in 2020 from the Detroit 2 album and is one of Sean’s more modern cuts.

And, boy, does it bang hard…

If I thought of two rappers that might sound good together and I also thought about a country name they should rap about, it wouldn’t have been these two or Lithuania.

But that’s why they are stars, and I am here writing about them. Sometimes, you need to know your place in life and when to shut your mouth.

14
One Man Can Change the World (feat. Kanye West and John Legend)

“One Man Can Change the World,” featuring both Kanye West and John Legend, is inspirational in every way. Listen to the lyrics, and you will learn a thing or two.

This is another threesome for the ages that would make Kim Kardashian sore for at least 20 minutes. Big Sean collaborations are spot-on successes.

And this one is no different…

This collab was from Big Sean’s 2015 Dark Sky Paradise album, which was his third studio album. How this track never won an award or a knighthood amazes me, especially when you consider how great it is.

John Legend is one of the most genius-like musical talents from this generation, and we all know about the infamy of Ye. All three of these cats together on this track made magic right before our eyes.

15
Marvin & Chardonnay (feat. Kanye West and Roscoe Dash)

We are now at our final destination, and the journey through the best songs by Big Sean has been a fun and eventful affair.

Big Sean’s epic track, “Marvin & Chardonnay,” with Kanye West and Roscoe Dash, should be a national treasure. This track was part of the 2011 Finally Famous mixtape series that birthed Sean’s career.

The hook is memorable, the beat is up-tempo and makes you want to dance, and the vocal delivery of the three artists was impeccable.

Fun and flavorsome are two ways to describe this track…

But, if you’ve never heard it before, you should check it out right away. Because this was released over a decade ago, it sometimes gets lost in the mix. So, I am making sure that new rap fans get a chance to hear it for the first time by including it here in the final spot.

Best Big Sean Songs of All Time – Wrap Up

The greatest Big Sean songs of all time are a mixed bag of tricks. But, they would be because some of them are over a decade apart.

His evolution as an artist is something special. He’s moved with the times but has always kept true to his fire-spitting roots. Big Sean is more similar to a 1990s rapper than the modern mumble rappers and Trap artists. Maybe that’s why he blends so well with so many rap legends.

I could have probably compiled a list of his best 30 tracks…

And it would still cause an argument with his fans. But that is a testament to how deep his catalog is and how much people care.

Big Sean still has some mileage in the gas tank. So, don’t be surprised if he takes it to an even higher level over the next few years. I am looking forward to being part of the journey as a longtime fan of his music.

Until next time, happy listening.
